Friendship

With the same motivation I referred to in my previous post, I have also completed Block #12 – the final block of the Wildcraft Farm ‘Made with Love’ quilt.

The stitched word on the original pattern was ‘admire’ ; I replaced it with ‘friendship’, something my other half and I both agree is a necessity for a good marriage. We have shared interests and enjoy doing things together. I also appreciate having someone to debrief to when I’ve had a difficult day at work, or need a sounding board and some wise advice, and hopefully I can be as good a friend to him. 🙂

A couple of weeks ago, with the added motivation of losing the Bernina sewing machine to it’s rightful owner at the end of the week, I finally completed the Made With Love quilt block #11.  Amazing how a deadline can lead to action…

I’ve used the same words on this block as in the original pattern.

A First and a Tenth

This week I completed Block #10 of the Made with Love quilt. Again, its been several months since the last block was completed. I only have two to go now, and have purchased the remainder of the fabric needed to complete the top.

The original words on this block were ‘Warmth’ and ‘Fancy’ – I have replaced them with ‘Patience’ and ‘Kindness’; two more qualities necessary for a strong marriage, or in fact any good relationship . 🙂

Three Months

Its hard to believe that the Made with Love quilt (original design by Wildcraft Farm) had come to a standstill for that long – but yes, my last post was Block #8, in October 2012!

Today I finally completed Block #9. The stitched word on the original pattern was ‘Embrace’; I have replaced it with ‘Forgiveness’. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since October, including events and difficult relationships which are still challenging me to forgive, let go and move on. Taking the time to be creative certainly helps with this process, bringing hope and peace to replace the discouragement and anxiety I was feeling.

Two Ears

Yesterday I completed Block #8 of the Made With Love quilt from Wildcraft Farm.

The stitched word on the original pattern was ‘Love’ but as I have already used this on Block #5 (‘Love, Joy, Peace’), I’ve replaced it with ‘Listen’.

I have to admit this is something I personally need to work on. Its important to really listen to the other person – let them have their say and do your best to understand – rather than waiting for them to finish the sentence so you can jump in (or worse, not even waiting, but interrupting). As they say, we have two ears and only one mouth for a reason. Unfortunately my husband reads this blog and will be agreeing wholeheartedly!
